D'ya think when he said,"The Path of True Love Never Did Run Straight,"he meant...:B Bolger-Baggins
I was going to give this poem to my beloved in the snug comfort of the Bed & Breakfast at Amon Sul, but in light of his last journal entry, I'm going to take this brief supper break in the Chetwood to present this now:

Corm en cormamin! Alasse'amin, rielamin, mellonamin!
Essa man ilya lemba rangwar;
Sut valinmet sii', mano cormi alamet,
Ed' n'ala ilya omenta, Er:
Mano saimoina nausa ilnair vee'neva
Vee' Mela, ri'vestar, ri'olini karnar melima.

And it bears repeating and expanding upon in plain Westron:

Soule of my soule! my Joy, my crown, my friend!
A name which all the rest doth comprehend;
How happy are we now, whose souls are grown,
By an incomparable mixture, One:
Whose well acquainted minds are not as neare
As Love, or vows, or secrets can endeare.
I have no thought but what's to thee reveal'd,
Nor thou desire that is from me conceal'd.
United thus, what horrour can appeare
Worthy our sorrow, anger, or our feare?

Let the dull world alone to talk and fight
And with their vast ambitions nature fright;
Let them despise so innocent a flame,
While Envy, pride, and faction play their game:
But we by Love sublim'd so high shall rise,
To pitty Kings, and Conquerours despise,
Since we that sacred union have engrost,
Which they and all the sullen world have lost.

--Westron translation by Katherine Philips titled "6th of April 1651 L'Amitie: To Mrs. M. Awbrey"

Heed not the slings and arrows of the ignorant, a'maelamin! We are not the first lovers to bear the scorn of the narrow-minded and we shan't be the last. Let them despise our innocent flame. We have each other. The opinions of others matter not. More bug spray, however, would be a blessing.

Current Mood: romantic and iconoclastic
