I suppose there's precedence in the author's home's history with the whole Glorious Revolution thing, though there wasn't this "my sentient species is better than your sentient species" thing going on with that. I mean, if someone said, "Oh look! Here's a bunch of pegasi and they're going to run the Shire now," do you think hobbits would just go along with that? I don't think so.
So why should all the other sentient beings just accept this, especially when the out-sourced royalty aren't even adults yet? It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
